NEW YORK, July 15, 2021—Dale Porfilio, FCAS, MAAA, has been named Chief Insurance Officer (CIO) at the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I). His first day in this newly-created position is Monday, July 19.

“Dale Porfilio brings nearly 30 years of senior-level insurance industry executive experience to the Insurance Information Institute, and we are thrilled to welcome him,” said Sean Kevelighan, CEO, Triple-I. “Porfilio has served as a Chief Actuary, developed an expertise in a wide array of insurance product lines, and gained international experience at three publicly-traded companies.”

The Triple-I’s CIO was most recently a Senior Vice President and Corporate Chief Actuary at Genworth Financial, an organization he joined in 2013, where he was responsible for the actuarial practice for all product lines and countries. While at Kemper Corp. (2000-2013), Porfilio served as their Vice President and Chief Actuary with responsibility for pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, catastrophe management, and product management. He began his career at Allstate (1992-2000), working on pricing, product, research, and catastrophe risk modeling issues.

“The Insurance Information Institute has rightfully earned its reputation as a trusted source of unique and data-driven insights,” Porfilio stated. “I look forward to bringing my knowledge and passion for the insurance industry to the consumers, policymakers, and insurance professionals who rely on the Triple-I as a credible, go-to resource.”

Besides overseeing the Triple-I’s Research division, Porfilio will work closely with other Triple-I subject matter experts to develop impactful industry insights and analyses, act as a media spokesperson on thought leadership matters, and deliver board-level presentations at industry events and to Triple-I member companies. Porfilio will report into the Triple-I’s CEO.

The Research team produces the Triple-I Blogwhite papers, and much of the editorial content for the Triple-I’s external website.  The Chief Insurance Officer opening emerged following the retirement of James Lynch, the Triple-I’s Chief Actuary, earlier this year.

Porfilio and his wife, Carol, reside in Oak Park, Ill. They are the parents of three adult daughters: Kate, Elle, and Claire. In addition, Porfilio is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and a summa cum laude graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.

Founded in 1960, the Triple-I’s members account for about 50 percent of the total premium written today in the U.S. auto, home, and business insurance market. The Insurance Information Institute is an affiliate of The Institutes.
