Media Advisory: D.C. Insurance Committee to Convene on Feb. 18

NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2021 —Reporters covering the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance’s (FACI) quarterly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 12:30 p.m., ET, are encouraged to contact the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) for details on how insurers are responding to key issues.

The Triple-I has editorial content and subject matter experts on each of these topics, which are the focus of three separate FACI subcommittees:

• Protection Gap: The Triple-I’s Resilience Accelerator chronicles how insurance closes the protection gap for those residing and working in disaster-prone parts of the U.S.
• Availability of Insurance Products: The Triple-I has Facts & Statistics pages on the U.S.’s auto, homeowner’s and renters, and business insurance markets
• COVID-19 pandemic: The Triple-I’s Future of American Insurance & Reinsurance (FAIR) campaign highlighted how the U.S.’s insurers responded to 2020’s challenges while keeping its promises to policyholders; meanwhile, the Insurance Research Council (IRC) conducted a survey on how policyholder behaviors may change after the pandemic ends 

The FACI provides advice and recommendations to the U.S. Treasury Department’s Federal Insurance Office (FIO).  Both entities were created as part of 2010’s Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
